In 2001, a young Tom Romeo was searching for a sign to help him choose between his two passions. While meditating on a special rock by the shores of Lake Tahoe, a massive bear suddenly paused nearby, staring directly at him before moving on without confrontation. This magical encounter inspired Tom, as he learned that a bear crossing is often viewed as a sign of good luck and a guide for those at a crossroads. With the bear symbolizing strength, Tom knew this was the opportunity to start his own shoe company, aptly named BEARPAW, as an homage to his chance meeting with the bear in Tahoe.
Shortly after, the very first BEARPAW boot style, EVA, was created. Over time, the EVA evolved into the ELLE boot, which remains the most popular shoe in the company's collection. Both EVA and ELLE embodied the BEARPAW lifestyle with their warmth and effortless style. The BEARPAW team now crafts shoe styles for all walks of life, allowing you to live comfortably wherever you are.
